Overview

Pre-analytics refers to all processes that occur prior to the actual laboratory analysis, starting from
sample collection (e.g. blood, saliva or urine), to sample stabilization, transport, and storage. Current approaches use predominantly cold-freezing and cold-shipping approach which can be very cumbersome and challenging especially in field collection in remote locations. New technologies to preserve and protect these samples at ambient conditions will provide a cost-effective solution for these processes.

Biomatrica is developing a new line of products – termed the “Gard“ which is designed to rapidly stabilize nucleic acids in cells, tissue, biopsy material, saliva, and blood samples. These products protect samples from degradation at room temperature, and fit directly into the point of care workflow and offer the ability to transport biological materials with increased quality enabling forensics, biobanking, research and molecular diagnostics pre-analytics market without the need for refrigeration.

Biomatrica Products for the Pre-analytics market

Biomatrica is developing a range of products for room temperature stabilization and shipping of tissues, cells, biopsy materials and blood from point of collection to the laboratory for analysis and storage. The product portfolio will continue to grow. Below is the list of current and pending products:

	Collect and ship tissues & cells at room temperature Designed for room temperature stabilization of DNA in tissue, cell lines and biopsy materials for up to 12 months.
	Collect, transport and preserve DNA in whole blood samples at room temperature Designed for room temperature stabilization of DNA in tissue, cell lines and biopsy materials for up to 12 months.
	Collect, ship and preserve saliva DNA at room temperature Designed for the collection, preservation and shipping of saliva samples. DNA in saliva samples is preserved for up to 4 years at ambient conditions. Product is currently in BETA.
	Collect, ship and preserve RNA in whole blood samples at room temperature Designed for the collection, preservation and shipping of saliva samples. DNA in saliva samples is preserved for up to 4 years at ambient conditions. Product is currently in BETA.
	Collect, ship and preserve DNA and RNA in whole blood samples at room temperature Designed for the collection, shipping and preservation of DNA and RNA in whole blood samples at room temperature.
	Store and ship live E. coli samples at room temperature. Enables you to protect viability and genetic integrity of your samples at ambient temperature.
