Welcome to the December 2009 issue of the Biomatrica Newsletter.
I am excited to see the development of Biomatrica’s product lines addressing complex samples such as blood and tissue for shipping, storage and management at room temperature. These new products will enhance Biomatrica’s ability to maintain leadership in biobanking and sustainability programs around the world. The innovation and efficacy of these products demonstrates the increased breadth and capacity of the SampleMatrix® technology.
I am also very excited that the technology is being utilized at research institutions to reach their sustainability goals of reducing carbon footprint and energy costs through implementation of Biomatrica technologies. We are glad to be a positive green solution in laboratories around the world.

New Products
In the last 6 months, Biomatrica has launched three new products – QIAsafe DNA Blood (in partnership with Qiagen), DNAgardTM and Sampleware 3.1.QIAsafe DNA Blood
In partnership with Qiagen, Biomatrica released a new product for stabilizing 1-200µL of DNA in blood samples at room temperature without degradation. This product is available for purchase directly from Qiagen in either tube (2ml) or plate (48-well) formats.DNAgardTM
We recently announced our latest innovative room temperature bio-stabilization product DNAgard for DNA stabilization in tissues and cells. DNAgard stabilizes gDNA in cultured cells or animal tissues for at least 2 months in liquid storage format. For longer term storage dry-down is required. SampleWare 3.1
We are excited to announce the release of SampleWare 3.1. This software upgrade introduces an electronic audit trail feature to our powerful bio-sample management software tool. This new feature provides a complete view of a sample’s life cycle, tracking user and date stamps, while allowing a complete view and report on sample history storage cabinets or freezers.
