LBgard Blood Tubes are sterile, plastic, direct-draw blood collection tubes pre-filled with a proprietary reagent that stabilizes whole blood at the point of specimen collection, preventing the release of contaminating cellular genomic DNA. Samples collected in LBgard Blood Tubes are stable for 7 days when stored or shipped between 4ºC and 25ºC, with transient temperature excursions of 37ºC for up to 24 hours. Combined with an average 30% greater plasma yield vs. other commercially available blood collection tubes, LBgard Blood Tubes deliver confidence in sample robustness and device performance to support downstream applications using cell-free DNA (cfDNA).

The brake setting for the first spin should be off. For the second spin, heavy breaking is ok.

The LBgard Blood Tube is For Research Use Only. LBgard has not been validated for diagnostic use. A CE-Marked version of these tubes is also available. LBgard Blood Tube CE is for Export Only. Not for Sale in the U.S.

Samples collected in LBgard Blood Tubes are stable for 7 days when stored or shipped between 4ºC and 25ºC, with transient temperature excursions of 37ºC for up to 24 hours.

 

No, freezing blood in LBgard tubes causes cell lysis.

After inverting the tube 10X (see IFU), blood is fully stabilized.

We recommend the QIAamp Circulating Nucleic Acid Kit (55114) and the QIAsymphony DSP Circulating DNA Kit (937556) from Qiagen.

  1. Invert LBgard tubes containing whole blood to mix.
  2. Spin at 1900 rcf for 10 minutes. Transfer top plasma layer carefully to an empty conical tube, carefully avoiding the buffy coat and red blood cell layers.
  3. Spin extracted plasma at 4500 rcf for 15 minutes. Transfer the plasma to an empty tube avoiding any remaining pellets.
  4. Repeat centrifugation Step 3, if desired.

Yes- it works for short draws down to 4mL.
